Fwd: A thing or two about forwarded emails

When I check my email everyday, I tend to at least see one email that is forwarded to me by somebody. It could be something nice, like a list of really cute stuff, or life philosophies. It could sometimes be outright freaky, like some doctored photos of a girl that eats human, or some freak accident. Some are sympathetic mails, “Please forward to as many people as possible…

Earth Hour 2009

Earth Hour 2009

Earth Hour was originally conceived as an event for people to turn off their lights for one hour during that day. It was first started in Sydney, Australia in 2007. The simple but brilliant idea caught the attention of other people of the world, and in 2008, it went global. Over 35 countries participated in the 2008 iteration, with an estimated 50 million people participating in that event. In 2009, the idea came to Malaysian shores…

Petition Against “New Facebook”, and Facebook responded

facebook

While any change to user interface will generally attract certain amount of criticism (think Microsoft Office 2007), the complaints usually die out after users figure it out and gets used to it. Facebook just recently rolled out a redesign to their interface and unsurprisingly, drew fire from its community, just like every other interface redesigns. What’s different about Facebook’s criticism, lies in…

iPhone Loot

The iPhone Pacakage

Been waiting for the iPhone to go official for a looooong time. Now that it’s finally here, might as well get a good look at it. Honestly, this has to be the first time I’ve touched the iPhone, 3G or not. I admit I’m slow in picking up the trends. For a start, the iPhone feels just like the iPod touch with a phone function (duh…), so there wasn’t much problem converting over since…

Maxis iPhone Launch – Collection Day

Not Much of a queue, is it?

Ah yes! The day has finally come for me to go and collect the much anticipated iPhone. Observing from the launch of the first day, it seems that little share the same enthusiasm level as I do. I think it is partly due to readily available gray market iPhones and also the abcense of pre-launch marketing campaign. It is sad to see such a great product getting so little attention. Maybe if Maxis or any of our Telcos struck a deal earlier and announced it sooner, people might just put off their purchase until it became official. Though I’m happy that I’ll finally be able to get the phone, the process of getting there was frustrating and disappointing…

Maxis iPhone Launch Fiasco

iPhone 3G banner at the event hall

Day 1: March 20, 2009 (Fri), 1600hrs, 1 hours before official launch, event hall: empty. The event was split into two sections: one for the press and VIP, the other for customers with pre-bookings. At 4pm, the event staff was still basically making much of the final prep work and last minute briefing. To cook up the event, they’ve even brought in Darth Vader, a Sith and a couple of other hooded Star Wars characters to entertain the “crowd” when it’s show time…

4 Myth and Facts about Lithium-ion Polymer Batteries

The Li-ion Polymer on my HTC P3600i

While I was digging over some tech specs of iPhone’s and iPod’s battery, I’ve found some rather interesting new facts about the batteries they use – Lithium-ion Polymers (or Li-ion Polymer, for short). There are a lot of myths and question out there…
